From the President of WMPC…

The Women of Media Presbyterian Church (WMPC) includes every woman in the congregation.  We come from all different life experiences with a desire to come together with other Christian women who share a faith and a desire to be in relationship with our Lord.  We bring varying gifts and talents to this journey that we are taking and together make Media Presbyterian Church a much fuller and richer place to worship.  

I sincerely hope that if you are not already a part of one of our groups, you will consider joining with us on this faith journey. 

Women’s Circles:  We currently have 6 small groups, called Circles, where you can meet monthly for Bible study and friendship.  All circles study God’s word and all share a common purpose of care and concern for their members, plus support missions at home and abroad.  There is a small description of each of the circles with their meeting day and time included in this directory.

 Book Club:  This is an informal group of women who meet monthly at the church to discuss books selected by the group to read.  Contact  Betsy Podrebarac at 610-891-9257 for additional information.

 Discipleship Group:  A number of women meet at church on Thursdays for fellowship and Bible study. This group is led by Deborah Forbes, 610-566-1079 and Reverend Bill Borror.

 Prayer Shawl Ministry:  For those of you interested in stitching, this group meets monthly for fellowship while they knit or crochet prayer shawls, baby blankets or lap robes, which are then given to shut-ins, hospitalized members, new babies or where other  needs are known.  The contact person is Peg Harris at 610-566-4501.  

Broomall Nursing Home:  We want your canceled USA postage stamps.  You can put them in the “mail box” located in the MPC library.  These stamps are taken to the Broomall Nursing Home where they are sorted by the residents and sold.  Many thousands of dollars have been raised over the years by this project.  The contact person is Chris Blidan at 610-566-0937.

You can also volunteer to bake a cake and/or help with the “Birthday Party” in March which is hosted by the Women of Media Presbyterian Church.  The contact person is Diane Machamer at    610-558-0282.

Social Activities and Programs:  Throughout the year, we join together as a larger group for dinners, special programs, inspirational speakers and celebrations.  These opportunities are open to all women at Media Presbyterian Church and I encourage you to attend when possible.

If you have any ideas that you would like to share about new or different ways to enrich our experience with the Women of Media Presbyterian Church, please let us know.  Whether it’s a new type of group or a mission that you may feel lead to pursue, we are open to any and all suggestions.  You can contact any of the board members or give me a call at 610.558.0282.
